About the course
The mind and the body are a single unit. They may run on separate circuits, but they are inextricably connected, and when we train ourselves to harmonize our physical and mental wiring we can transform our lives.
Join Tom McCook, internationally recognized Master Movement Specialist, Franklin Method Educator and Somatic Coach, who will take you on a transformative journey of movement in a live, four-session online physical and mental workout.
Here, Tom will teach you how to balance and align your body and your mind to place yourself on a path to holistic wellbeing through a series of mind/body awareness exercises. Tom’s passion and knowledge have empowered everyone from Olympic athletes to working professionals to harness the awesome power of movement to simultaneously stimulate the mind and body.

What you'll learn
How to train your mind and body to relieve tension, improve posture, mobility, strength, balance and cultivate a centered presence.

Course Outline
Pelvis/Feet/Centering
Balancing our dynamic center, base of support, make gravity our friend and Center ourselves around 4 organizing principles: length, width, depth and purpose. Stand better, sit better, create a fluid, organized center and base of support.
Spine/ Breath
Cultivating a Youthful Spine and Breath for life. Learn to image and embody the design of the spine and how to care for it on a daily basis. Infusing the breath opens the spine and makes movement easier.
Shoulders/Neck/Posture
Liberating the Shoulders and Neck - We'll practice a few effective fluid movements of the shoulder girdle to release tension, improve posture and even have a positive effect on mood.
Integration/Cultivating
A practice for lifelong wellness. When we combine how our body is designed with movement, attention and imagery we can create positive change in the moment. Enjoy, move slowly and sensibly and thank you so much for joining!
Meet Your Teacher
Tom McCook is an internationally recognized fitness and movement specialist and certified Master Instructor of Pilates and CoreAlign for Balanced Body. For the past 30 years, Tom has created mind-and-body holistic workouts for working professionals, people rehabilitating from injuries, and world-class athletes including Olympic Gold Medal swimmers Natalie Coughlin, Jenny Thompson and Misty Hyman.
Tom’s teaching approach integrates a series of holistic mind-body practices including Pilates, yoga, Shiatsu, stretching, The Franklin Method, BodyCode System, and life coaching. Tom is committed to his own daily meditation and movement practice, which broadens his effectiveness in designing programs for balance and optimal health. In 2003, Tom produced the exercise video Combining Pilates & Yoga for Balance, and his Center of Balance has been featured in multiple national magazines, newspapers and television programs.
